Volunteers are vital to our Y, and by opening up your heart and extending your hand to our Y community, you will be changing the lives of so many. Each year, over 500 people of all ages contribute their time and talents as volunteers at the New Canaan YMCA.
There are so many ways to give back to others through the New Canaan YMCA. Volunteers help us further our mission and strengthen our ability to serve our community. There are opportunities to volunteer in different departments throughout the Y, serving all different ages, interests, and needs. We work with our volunteers and their schedules to ensure their experience is enjoyable, manageable, and meaningful. Whether it’s an hour a month, an hour a week, or a one-time event, there’s no better way to give back to the community than volunteering at the Y!
To volunteer, please contact Ida Marchetti, Assistant Director of Human Resources, at [email protected].
The New Canaan YMCA’s Youth Basketball League (Y-ball) program is an incredibly popular community program for kids to enjoy basketball in a fun and supportive environment. The program is made possible by parent and community volunteers who serve as coaches and lead weekly practices and games.
The New Canaan YMCA has one of the most robust special needs programs among Ys across the country. Volunteering within our special needs programs is an incredibly meaningful experience for both our volunteers and our program participants. Volunteers provide support during our programs or special events, helping our participants to build confidence, develop skills, make friends, and have fun!
Volunteers are always appreciated to help out behind the scenes to help with administrative tasks. Administrative volunteers have the opportunity to help our Y run smoothly and efficiently.
We hold a variety of special events throughout the year and can always use extra hands to help make the events run smoothly and provide a great experience for our community members.
If you are looking to fulfill a community service requirement, we’ll work with you to identify a volunteer opportunity that can help you meet your requirements and be a meaningful experience.
Absolutely! If there is a volunteer opportunity not listed here that you think our Y could benefit from, please contact Ida Marchetti, Assistant Director of Human Resources, at [email protected].
Middle School Night and Youth @ the Y are monthly programs where kids and middle schoolers get to take over the Y on Saturday night, providing a safe, fun, and healthy night out with friends. Volunteers are always welcome to help make these evenings even more fun for our community’s kids and help with leading activities.
