George Bennett

Youth and Camp Yi-Ki Director
George has been the Camp Director since the summer of 2018, but has been at Camp Y-Ki since 2012. During that time, he has been a Counselor, Archery Specialist and Leaders in Training co-coordinators (L.I.T). After graduating from UConn in December ’17 with a B.S in History, George took on the year-round position of Assistant Youth Director and Camp Y-Ki Director. During the school year, he runs Middle School Night, Youth @ the Y, instructs the Red Cross Babysitting Courses, leads all Middle School Recreational programs, and assists with family programming. George is excited to keep blending the traditions that made him fall in love with Camp Y-Ki with new and exciting ideas.

 

Rebecca Evensen

Assistant Camp Director
Rebecca has been a part of the Camp Y-Ki family since 2016. During that time, she has been a Special Cares Counselor, Counselor, and a Leader-in-Training (L.I.T.) Co-Coordinator. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a B.S. in Special Education and a B.A. in Elementary Education. Recently, she graduated with a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction Degree. During the year, she works at the YMCA in the Bouncing Bears room, Middle School Night and Youth @ the Y. Since graduating college, she has worked at New Canaan Country School in 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade classrooms. Rebecca is excited to begin another summer as Assistant Director and to create more Y-Ki memories!

 

Abby Crowley

Assistant Camp Directory
This will be Abby’s seventh summer here at camp! After being a counselor,  the team building specialist, and our unit leader for older age groups, Abby is now in her second year as an Assistant Director. Abby graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison this spring with majors in Elementary Education and Special Education. She is so excited to be back at camp and hanging out with all the best people. Abby is looking forward to seeing our returning camp families, and meeting the new ones. Abby can’t wait to start all the summer fun at Kiwanis!

 

John Eng

C.I.T. Coordinator/Camp Y-Ki Leader
John started at the New Canaan YMCA as a camper at Camp Mini and worked his way up through the age levels. He has been a camper, C.I.T., Counselor, Nature Specialist, Archery Instructor, and now is in the position of our C.I.T. Coordinator. John is excited to give back to the camp that has given so much to him and to bring in some new ideas for our C.I.T. program. John is currently getting his Master Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Fairfield University.
