Y Awards $200,000 in Financial Assistance

This past year, the New Canaan YMCA provided the equivalent of nearly $200,000 in financial assistance to the community thanks to the generous support of donor contributions to the Y’s Annual Support Campaign. Financial assistance ensures that no individual or family is ever turned away from the opportunity to maintain a healthy lifestyle at the Y, regardless of financial circumstances.

“Our family has always benefitted from the New Canaan YMCA’s programs, from swimming lessons to gymnastics to summer camp. The Y, its staff, and fellow program participants have become part of our extended family. I trust the enrichment that my children receive year after year and without the financial support from donors, I would never be able to provide these extracurriculars for my children to learn, grow & flourish. Thank from the bottom of my heart!” shared a recent financial assistance recipient at the New Canaan YMCA.

Financial assistance provides opportunities for hundreds of individuals and families each year at the New Canaan YMCA regardless of background, income, or need. Donations to the Y make it possible to provide financial support for memberships, benefitting families and individuals of all ages from kids to seniors, along with assistance for program fees. This financial support provides adults with the opportunity to maintain a healthy lifestyle, provides seniors with the opportunity to remain socially and physically active, and provides kids with the opportunity to build life-long skills, discover passion, build confidence, and character, and make lasting friendships through programs such as swim lessons, childcare, summer camp, sports, social activities, competitive teams, and leadership opportunities.

“The Y’s Financial Assistance Program helps to further the Y’s mission to enrich all people,” said New Canaan YMCA’s Executive Director, Margaret Riley. “Through donations to our Annual Support Campaign, our donors generously fund our Financial Assistance Program, enabling the Y to make a healthier and happier lifestyle accessible to all members of our community, regardless of ability to pay.”
