Aquatic Instructor
Pay range:       $10.50-$15.00/hour
Job Duration: Year Round
Positions available Monday through Friday some morning and all afternoons; Saturdays mornings. Certifications in Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard, first Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer not mandatory, but helpful.  Looking for kind hearted, fun staff that has experience working with children. Camp Y-Ki Waterfront Director
Pay range:       $15-$21/hour
Job Duration:   Seasonal
Have lots of fun this summer working outside at our Camp Y-Ki waterfront. Solely responsible for safety and maintenance of beach and swimming area.  Position will supervise aquatic staff and counselors.  Lots of opportunity for development of a good leader working around children in one of the nicest summer atmospheres.  Candidate must be 21 years of age and qualified to be the director of each individual waterfront or swimming area, including areas devoted to the practice of aquatics.  Position requires the ability to teach children how to swim, preferably with experience in either the National YMCA Swim Lesson Program or the American Red Cross Water Safety Program. Child Development Assistant Teacher (Full time)
Pay range:         $15.13-$19/hour, based on experience
Job Duration:     Year Round

Under the direction of the Infant-Preschool Child Care Director and Lead Teachers, the Assistant Teacher will be responsible assisting in daily aspects of the classroom program, and care of children. The Assistant Teacher will work toward providing a program to foster children’s social, physical, emotional, and cognitive growth at all times under the direction of the Lead Teachers and Director.

Successful candidates will possess:  Minimum high school diploma but should be pursuing a degree in child development or related ECE field, previous early childhood teaching experience with a strong background in Early Childhood Development, must possess good communications skills and patience, individual must be the ability to work well with children in cooperation with other staff and parents of participants, and be responsive and flexible to the needs of the program.

My Playroom Attendant (Part time)
 Pay range:         $13-$19, based on experience
Job Duration:     Year Round

Under the direction of the Kids Unlimited Director, the My Playroom Staff provide a safe, nurturing environment for children ages 6 months and up whose parents/guardians are utilizing our facility. Shifts available Monday-Friday 8:15 am – 1:15 pm Saturday 8:15 am – 12 pm and Sunday 9 am-12 pm. Please contact or email HR at hr@newcanaanymca.org.

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • My Playroom Staff must have at least two years’ experience in babysitting an/or childcare environment.
  • Staff must demonstrate caring for all children and responsibility in their role.
  • All My Playroom Staff must be able to take control and make decisions easily.
  • Be available to questions and address concerns of parents.
  • Help to maintain the playroom in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
  • Attend workshops, staff meetings special events when requested.


Associate Competitive Swim Director (Salaried)

Middle School Night/Youth @ the Y Staff (Seasonal)

Help foster the intellectual, social, and physical growth of Middle School Madness participants by providing a meaningful and enjoyable Middle School Madness experience.   Teens will enjoy and have a safe environment to hang out in with friends, and will benefit from meaningful relationships with adults while experiencing and taking part in a variety of different activities.
