Bouncing Bears Preschool Gymnastics

Bouncing Bears is a unique and integrated program that will challenge your child as he or she develops physically and socially. Your child will be exposed to activities that enhance flexibility, balance, rhythm, and motor skills. Age-appropriate classes incorporate music, dance, puppets, relays, games, gymnastics apparatus, skills stations, and creative obstacle courses. An emphasis is placed on community and socials skills, as well as the Y’s core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Spring Session 2021
Session 1:  March 8- April 24, 2021 (6-week session)
Session 2:  April 26- June 7,  2021 (6-week session)

The Bouncing Bears program is divided into the following levels:


Little Bears: 12-23 months, with parent

Big Bears: 24-36 months, with parent


Hot Shots: 3.5 -5 years old


Disney Dance & Tumble Mania! : Ages 3-5 (Pre-K)
Perfect for any Disney loving kid! This structured 60 minute class consists of two, 30 minute segments. The first segment features creative and fun dance movements where all music and activities have a Disney flair! The second segment will have kids bouncing their hearts out while learning the basic building blocks of tumbling. Obstacle course and skill stations will enhance their strength, coordination, and confidence.  REQUIRED: sneakers, water bottle , and mask. Drop off In GYMNASIUM/Pick up in KID ZONE.

Gym & Swim Combo Class: Ages 3-5 (Pre-K)
This 90-minute class features two specialties in one class! In the first 45 minutes, children will develop their skills learning basic tumbling and preschool gymnastics through stations, circuits, and games. The second half of class features a 30-minute swim class taught by a YMCA swim instructor. Children will be accompanied by their gym instructor and MUST come prepared with their bathing suit on under their gym clothes. Drop off in Kid Zone/Pick up in the Forese Family Pool.Those interested in participating in the gym portion only of this class may do so, space permitting. Bouncing Bears Open Gym: not currently available during this phase of our reopening.

Class Rules & Procedures:

  • Only one parent per child allowed to participate in Little and Big Bears classes. All adults must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Toddlers are not required to wear a mask or social distance.
  • All children in drop-off classes must bring a mask and water bottle with name clearly marked. Should a child’s mask pose a safety issue while tumbling (slipping over their eyes or around their neck) we will have them remove it.
  • Class sizes have been reduced to accommodate social distancing when possible.
  • Class times have been staggered to disinfect high-touch apparatus between classes.

Make-Up Policy: We will make every effort to provide a make-up class for illness or injury in a regularly scheduled class only if there is space available. All make–ups must be approved and scheduled by emailing Donna Carpenter, Gymnastics & Movement Education Director by calling 203-920-1639.

Workout Attire: Shorts and tee-shirt, sweats, or leotard. No shoes, socks, tights, DRESSES, or jewelry.
