Building
strong kids, strong families, and strong
communities. . .
What
brings over 1,200 people through our doors
each day?
Our members tell us as if it is second
nature.
To them, the YMCA is about total
wellness—enhancing spiritual, mental, and
physical health.
Members also tell us that one of the
most important reasons they come to the New
Canaan YMCA is for the quality time it
allows them to spend with their family.
In our busy lives, family time is
often the hardest to schedule, but it’s
also one of the most important aspects of
our children’s development.
The YMCA is the only place in New Canaan
where someone new to the community can
immediately become a part of community life.
Many praise the Y for its inclusive
approach to people facing physical or mental
challenges or financial difficulties.
Most important, the YMCA is
responding to critical challenges facing our
community, including constructive
after-school programs for teens, affordable
childcare, and life-saving skills such as
swim instruction for kids and adults.
It all comes together in a way that sets the
New Canaan YMCA apart from other
not-for-profit community organizations:
The YMCA fuses programs, exercise,
learning, self-esteem, confidence,
knowledge, and camaraderie to build people
one step at a time.
The
end result is a stronger individual, a
strengthened family—and, ultimately, a
stronger community.
