Healthy Eating Made Easy

We are pleased to announce that Field Goods will be helping us bring healthy produce to the New Canaan community year-round. Read more about this exciting, new program in the article below:

Field Goods announced today that the company has introduced its year-round produce delivery service to the New Canaan YMCA. Founded over four years ago, Field Goods is a one-of-a-kind subscription-based business that delivers freshly-harvested fruit and vegetables — all sourced from small farms — to employees and consumers at workplaces and community sites, including more than a dozen YMCAs. With Field Goods’ recent expansion into Fairfield County, the New Canaan YMCA is the first public pick-up location in New Canaan and the second in the whole county.

Field Goods subscribers receive 5-8 different types of fruits and vegetables each week, sourced from over 80 small farms spanning from northern Vermont to southern New Jersey. Weekly add-on options include fresh artisan bread, fresh pasta, various cheeses, herbs, extra fruit and more. A weekly e-newsletter, In the Bag, provides tips, recipes and a helping guide for preparing the produce. During the winter, deliveries include over a dozen type of produce flash-frozen at the peak of their freshness, as well as greenhouse-grown produce, root vegetables, herbs, organic beans, oils and other products. Customers sign up online at Field-Goods.com; subscriptions can be put on hold and restarted at any time.

Y Executive Director, Craig Panzano shared, “With the Y’s focus on promoting healthy living within our community, we’re thrilled to be partnering with Field Goods making it easier for our members and our community to access fresh produce year-round.” Panzano added, “Our vision is that members can conveniently pick up their weekly bag of fruits and vegetables while already here at the Y, making it both easy and exciting for adults and families to eat healthier.”

“With Field Goods, we have created a new channel of food distribution that supports small farmers and healthy eating,” explained Donna Williams, Field Goods founder and president. “Our customers love how we help them discover new vegetables with tips, recipes, some antedotes and a fun anticipation of what’s coming in the bag this week.”

Research attests to Field Goods’ healthy results. The Sage Colleges Nutrition Science Department’s 2014 research study reveals a direct correlation between a Field Goods subscription and healthier diets, increased satisfaction with eating habits and saving time and money on grocery shopping.

Weekly or bi-weekly produce subscriptions cost $17, $22, $27 and $32, with a portion of each week’s proceeds benefitting the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA cancer wellness program.
