  • AQUATIC INSTRUCTORS

  • Pay Range:       $10.46-$13.00/hr

    Job Duration:    Summer - Fall

    Positions available Monday through Saturdays.  Must have current certifications inn Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard, first Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer.  Experience not mandatory, but helpful.  Resumes immediately accepted.   • BUILDING SUPERVISOR (Part-Time)

Pay Range:      $11.51-$16.12/hr.

Job Duration:   Summer-Fall, 2008; ALTERNATE WEEKENDS


The New Canaan YMCA seeks responsible candidate to work as a “building supervisor” on alternating weekends. The position entails security of the building, making sure of coverage of staff in designated areas, building tours, and support for staff in the absence of directors being in the building full time on weekends. This is great experience in management of not only staffing issues but also facility operations.  CPR and First Aide a must for the position but will provide training for those who would qualify but do not have certifications. Pay dependent upon certifications and experience.

  • GYMNASTICS INSTRUCTOR - Part Time

Pay range:       12.66-15.20/hr

Job Duration:   Approximately 10-15 hours/week as program grows

Teach gymnastics at the YMCA with emphasis on the safety and fundamentals of the sport.

  • Be at least 16 years of age.

  • Prior gymnastics experience (as an instructor or a participant).

  • Must have the ability to teach ages 5 to 13.

  • Must be comfortable to supervise a group of youth.

  • Should have the ability to create and use lesson plans.

  • Recognize any safety concerns in regards to the use of the equipment

  • LIFEGUARDS, PART-TIME

  • SPINNING INSTRUCTORS, PART-TIME

Looking for several experienced Maddog certified Spin Instructors for various openings weekday and weekend hours, all of these classes are 45 minutes long.  Early 6am class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 9:30am Fridays and alternating Saturday class at 8am.  Pay based on experience.  Possibility of substituting for other Instructors.  Must also have current CPR/AED certification.  Contact Diane Dibella at 203-966-4528, Ext. 123 or email ddibella@newcanaanymca.org.

 

  • SWIM TEAM – EIGHT AND UNDER COACH, PART-TIME

    Pay range:     $12.66-17.74/hr

Job Duration: 12-15 hours/week, starting August, 2008

The Head 8/Under Coach oversees and directs the development of the 8/Under program groups (Red, Bronze and Pre Teams). This includes maintaining a high level of communication with fellow coaches and swim team parents, planning and running daily practices, the planning of, as well as attending, events (team pride building) coordinating the swim meet schedule for the above mentioned groups and submitting swim meet entries in a timely manner. The Head 8/Under Coach must be able to answer questions pertaining to all levels of the swim team and areas of the YMCA, structure and oversee the operation of 8/Under home meets.

Previous competitive coaching experience/participation is strongly recommended, as well as strong organizational administrative, and computer skills. Knowledge of either Hy-Tek or LSA software is preferred. Certifications in the following safety areas: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Training or Safety Training for the Swim Coach, and First Aid.   • SWIM TEAM – ASST. SWIM COACHES, PART-TIME (2)

Pay Range:            $12.66-$17.74/hr

Job Duration:            12-15 hours/week; starting August, 2008

New Canaan YMCA Caimans are looking for part time Assistant Swim Coaches to work 12-15 hours/week with all Age Group and Senior level teams for practices and meets.  This includes maintaining a high level of communication with fellow coaches and swim team parents, assisting with daily practices, assisting with, as well as attending, events (competitive and social).  The Assistant Swim Coach must be able to answer questions pertaining to all levels of the swim team and areas of the YMCA, assist with the operation of all home meets, and attend travel meets scheduled by the Assistant Competitive Swimming Director.

  • TEACHER, INFANT/TODDLER CHILDCARE, FULL-TIME (2)

Pay range:      $13.93-$16.72/hr

Job Duration: Full time; 35hrs/week starting ASAP
