AQUATIC DEPARTMENT

Aquatic Instructor
Pay range:       $10.50-$15.00/hour
Job Duration: Year Round
Positions available Monday through Friday some morning and all afternoons; Saturdays mornings. Certifications in Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard, first Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer not mandatory, but helpful.  Looking for kind hearted, fun staff that has experience working with children. Experience in teaching swimming preferred, but will train. Resumes immediately accepted. Child Development Teachers (Part time)

The New Canaan YMCA Hargrove Child Development Center is looking for highly motivated, dedicated, compassionate and caring individuals who enjoy working with young children and families, in our play-based toddler and preschool programs.   Become a part of our dynamic YMCA childcare team, and work in our beautiful Child Development Center, which has an excellent reputation in the community.

Child Development Assistant Teacher (Full time)
Pay range:         $14.84-$20.00/hour, based on experience
Job Duration:     Year Round

Under the direction of the Infant-Preschool Child Care Director and Lead Teachers, the Assistant Teacher will be responsible assisting in daily aspects of the classroom program, and care of children. The Assistant Teacher will work toward providing a program to foster children’s social, physical, emotional, and cognitive growth at all times under the direction of the Lead Teachers and Director.

Successful candidates will possess:  Minimum high school diploma but should be pursuing a degree in child development or related ECE field, previous early childhood teaching experience with a strong background in Early Childhood Development, must possess good communications skills and patience, individual must be the ability to work well with children in cooperation with other staff and parents of participants, and be responsive and flexible to the needs of the program.

FINANCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING

Director of Financial Development and Marketing (Salaried)
Pay Range:        Salary Commensurate with Experience

The New Canaan YMCA is seeking a Director of Financial Development and Marketing.  Under the direction of and working closely with the VP Financial Development, Marketing & Strategic Initiatives, the Director will be responsible for managing and implementing marketing and fundraising strategies for the organization.  Director must be able to work harmoniously and professionally with a variety of personalities including donors, committee members, Board of Directors, Y members, and fellow Y Directors.   Fundraising responsibilities include managing and fully executing the Y’s annual support campaign, along with contributing to and implementing year-round donor communication and cultivation strategies, as well as assisting with fundraising special events.  Marketing responsibilities include the execution of as well as the optimization of day-to-day marketing programs including quarterly program brochures, program promotion, semi-annual community newsletter, advertising, public relations, and internal/external communications.  Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a fundraising and/or marketing role at a non-profit organization.

MEMBERSHIP

Member Services Supervisor (Full time)
Pay range:         $16-$20/hour, based on experience
Job Duration:     Year Round

Under the direction of the Membership Director, the Member Services Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of a program that focuses on superior member service, positive member relationships, and the provision of a safe and smooth running Welcome Desk and Check-In Counter. 

As the “face” of the New Canaan YMCA, this supervisor must maintain and foster a positive, friendly, and engaging environment, a neat appearance at all times, and an efficient customer service driven center.  Member Services Supervisor should also be comfortable with the computer, work well with people, be a team player, and enjoy working in a vital “first contact” position. Supervisory experience and program data systems.

Supervise Welcome Center Staff:

  • Schedule shifts and ensure adequate coverage at all times.
  • Provide staff training and create appropriate training materials.
  • Act as Communications Liaison with Directors and Member Services Staff.
  • Ensure staff follow dress code and proper protocol at their stations.
  • Complete payroll and execute performance reviews of member relations staff.
  • Schedule and run staff meetings twice a year and as needed.

SWIM TEAM

Masters Swim Coach (Part time)

Pride/Assistant Coach (Part time)
Pay Range:        $13.74 – $17.18/hour

Looking for a motivated age group coach to work primarily with 6-10 year old swimmers. Must have 2+ years’ experience coaching. Primary responsibilities include:  direct our introductory group of 6-10 year old swimmers with appropriate drills and age appropriate sets.  Know how to make the practices and season fun as well as fast. Communicate effectively with parents. Help implement strategies to grow and retain the most important group of this program. Follow team policies and adhere to YMCA’s core values. Middle Madness Staff (Seasonal)

Pay Range:        $10.10 – $14.00/hour
Job Duration:     Seasonal (once a month)
Help foster the intellectual, social, and physical growth of Middle School Madness participants by providing a meaningful and enjoyable Middle School Madness experience.   Teens will enjoy and have a safe environment to hang out in with friends, and will benefit from meaningful relationships with adults while experiencing and taking part in a variety of different activities. Wellness Associate (Part Time)

New Canaan YMCA Wellness Center Associate needed – Part-Time Staff needed to work in Wellness Center.  The position involves, greeting and engaging with members and aiding and assisting them by providing basic exercise guidance and assistance. Other tasks involve basic cleaning equipment and maintaining a neat and clean workout environment.  Must be First Aid/CPR/AED certified.  An interest in living a Healthy Lifestyle, Wellness, Exercise, and helping others required.  Health Wellness certification candidates preferred.  Position does require some light to medium lifting, picking up weight plates, dumbbells etc..  Early AM, weekend and evening shift are available asap.
