Caimans Competes in YMCA 2017 State Championships

The 13/over Caimans kicked off the new year with a trip to the Wilton YMCA bubble for this year’s YMCA State Championships. Battling some very cold temperatures and less than ideal conditions, the team placed third on the Boys side while the Girls finished in a very close second place.

Leading the way for the Caiman Girls were Alex Pastushan with a second place in the 13/14 100 back, Maddie Haley with a third place in the 13/14 50 free, a second in the 200 and a first in the 100 and Page Volpe who placed second behind Maddie in the 100. In the 15-18 Girls age group Isabel Anbar and Lizzy Colwell brought home wins in the 200 back and breast, respectively, while Nicole Vanderlee brought home a second in the 200 IM.

On the Boys side, strong performances were turned in by Mark Forese in the 15-18 100 free, with a second place finish while Patrick Colwell and Conway Zhou paced the 13/14 boys with a 1-2 finish in the 50 free. Special recognition goes to Jason Wu who put up a lifetime best in the 100 free and qualified for the Connecticut Senior Championships.

Way to go Caimans!
