Caimans Compete at Y-Nationals

The Caimans attended the 2015 Y-Nationals in Greensboro, NC from March 30 to April 3. This year’s meet was the largest in YMCA swimming history, with over 200 teams and 1,600 athletes participating in the event. There were multiple national records broken, and the meet was titled the “fastest Y-Nationals of all time.”

Out of the 200 teams that competed, the New Canaan YMCA Caimans placed 14th overall. This strong finish was extremely impressive, as the Caimans had no seniors on its National Team roster. The Caimans shattered many personal and team records, tallying 21 new best times. The team also now boasts 23 All-American titles, meaning the swimmer is ranked in the top 16 in the nation. Those who earned this honor are Mia Bullock (2), Katie Colwell (5), Meghan Egan (6), Libby O’Hare (3), Isabel Anbar (1), Rebecca Maroney (1), Lauren Rutledge (1), and Lizzy Colwell (4).

“The Caimans had an amazing meet, and I’m so proud of our athletes,” said Y’s Director of Competitive Swimming, Michael Ferraro.

The New Canaan YMCA Caimans Swim Team provides a supportive, instructive, and fun environment for swimmers of all abilities to grow.
